Calibration gas mixtures are used in a wide range of activities, although gas detection and environmental monitoring are two of the key high volume applications.
Calibration gas mixtures consist of the components that are being measured in a background or "balance" gas that matches the matrix that you are measuring against. For example, for gas detection in personal or plant safety situations most mixtures are provided in an air balance as you are trying to measure levels of flammable or toxic gases in the surrounding atmosphere.
The majority of CryoService calibration gas mixtures are manufactured by gravimetry, which involves the sequential addition of components by mass using highly accurate balances in accordance with ISO6142. To support this, CryoService also undertakes instrumental analysis against reference standards in accordance with the principals of ISO6143 to verify the gravimetric values.
Many questions on calibration gases relate to the levels of certification that are available and the selection of the most suitable certification for each application. The table below details the CryoService range and the most suitable applications for each.
